Healthy Eye

Eye Etiquette Optical is pleased to announce that Dr Gurpreet Leekha will now be performing complete eye health examinations at our location.

Dr. Gurpreet Leekha received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the State University of New York in Manhattan in 2001.  He continued his optometric training through externships in Bronx, New York and Miami, Florida.  During this time Dr. Leekha developed special interests in psychology and vision as well as developmental and pediatric vision.  He has undergraduate degrees in Chemistry and Film Studies from Queens University, making him well rounded in his training and very approachable.

Dr. Leekha has worked in several eyecare settings, including an ophthalmology office and a LASIK centre in New York City, and most recently a private practice in Coquitlam, BC.  He traveled to Mexico in 2001 with the volunteer vision organization, Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity.  He offered up his services again in Chile in 2007 and in Mexico in 2008 with the Gift of Sight Foundation, providing free eye exam and eyewear to the underprivileged in those countries. Dr. Leekha is able to conduct eye examinations in English, Spanish and Punjabi.

It is recommended that adults between the ages of 19-64 have a complete exam every two years.  Children are free once a year up to the age of 19.  Children can have an eye exam as young as six months, but typically start at age three.  Perfect timing before they commence any form of schooling.  The sooner an eye disorder is detected the quicker it can be resolved positively.  Seniors from age 65 and above are also entitled to an eye exam once a year for a nominal fee.
